"With a voice that has been compared in five countries to that of Joan Baez, Allison Shapira brings a modern voice to the folk music scene. In the summer of 2012, she left a great job at Harvard University, moved out of her apartment in Harvard Square, and went to Europe with a small suitcase and a travel guitar. She had been playing the guitar for a little over a year. She performed in Austria, France, Italy, and Croatia, earning fans from around the world who knew her as "Allison from Boston." She returned to Boston to record her first original album, Coming Home. Allison's lyrics weave hopes and dreams with both real and fictional stories (you’ll have to guess which is which), creating characters which resonate with people from around the world.
